• ALOPECIA
Alopecia can strike in an abundance of different forms, from small patches to complete and total hair loss. Scalp Micropigmentation can solve your Alopecia worries by covering the area with the illusion of hair follicles. Scalp micropigmentation might be a great option to explore for people who are not suitable for a hair transplant or are unable to work with wigs due to the fact that it can be used on completely bald heads or even head with thinning/patchy hair. Its even recommended by Alopecia.org.uk
In some cases, the action of an SMP needle over the course of treatments has stimulated the dormant hairs and kick-started the hair to grow once again, another reason why scalp micropigmentation is a great hair treatment option.
• THINNING HAIR
Suffering from thinning hair is very common with men and women with long hair. If your hair is thinning and you would like to keep the length without having to wear the shaved buzz look then this is possible using SMP techniques to create the illusion of density by building up treatments and shades of micro-dots around and in-between existing hair.
SMP hairstyles for thinning haïr
Scalp micropigmentation can be very effective for masking and hiding thinning hair. If you have bald patches, or your hair is thinning all over, then these little scalp tattoos can fill in the gaps and make your hair look thicker and fuller. Your tattoos can be matched to your natural hair colour, to hide any signs of hair loss. Further treatments may then be an option if your hair continues to thin. There are many different causes of thinning hair, from natural aging to a too-tight ponytail. With SMP, patches of hair loss will be covered with a naturallooking treatment.
For older clients who are turning grey/white it is advisable to keep the hair colour a darker shade for optimum results.
• SMP FOR SCARS
SMP FOR HAIR TRANSPLANT SCARS
The two most common transplant scars are FUE and FUT. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) where you will see an array of ‘dot’ scarring usually from ear to ear depending upon the amount of the donors hair that is used. In our experience, these are the easiest scars to camouflage and achieve the best results as they lay flat so that we can blend these through to your existing hair. Excellent results are usually achieved after 3 or 4 sessions of Scalp Micro Pigmentation.
SMP for FUT scars
FUT stands for Follicular Unit Transplant. If you’ve had one of these, you may have been left with noticeable linear scars. The scars from Follicular Unit Transplants are often relatively large, and will usually only be completely hidden if you let your hair grow fairly long to cover them. Scalp micropigmentation is an alternative option. Small tattoos will shade your scars to blend in with the rest of your hair. With SMP for FUT scars, you can enjoy your new look without worrying about these strip scars.
With FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) we usually find a strip scar that is raised to varying degrees. These scars will camouflage with varying success and clients must understand that due to the nature of these types of scar we cannot promise the desired results. Results can sometimes take longer to achieve as we slowly build up layers of scalp pigmentation to disguise the scar area.
SMP for FUE scars
FUE treatment, or Follicular Unit Extraction, is a less invasive form of hair transplant. It is often advertised as a scar-free treatment, though this isn’t always the case. If you’ve had a hair transplant, you may be left with small dotted scars on your scalp. Though FUE scars are difficult to spot, they may leave you feeling self-conscious. These scars, though small in size, can have a negative impact on your image. Luckily, with SMP, these scars are easy to hide.
Scalp micropigmentation can easily mask FUE scars, which are small in size and easily blended using tattoos that match your hair colour.
• COMBINATION
If you have already had some form of hair transplant and are still suffering density issues then you can have a combination of transplant and SMP work to enhance your new look.
Most commonly the areas of concern are the crown area and front hairline. The difference with this treatment is the skin can almost be scar like where the donor hair has been introduced. This can sometimes lead to extra treatments being required to achieve to desired results.
SMP Combination
You’re likely to pay considerable money for a successful hair transplant. This in itself is a big decision, bringing long-term cosmetic results. Once your transplant surgery has come to an end, you’ll want to show off your new hair. Residual scarring can affect your self-image and have an impact on the final result.
If you want to camouflage your hair transplant scars, why not consider combining your transplant with SMP? Matched to your hair colour for a natural blend, tiny scalp tattoos can be used to change the colour of your scars. Now, anyone that sees your thick new hair won’t be able to see any scarring.

Combining your Hair Transplant with Scalp Micropigmentation
Combining your hair transplant with SMP is the best way to achieve a great look. A hair transplant can return large amounts of hair to your head, whilst your SMP tattoos can cover the scars that are left as a result of this treatment. If you’re going to invest in a hair transplant, then you’ll want results that you can be proud of. Nobody wants to go through hair transplant surgery just to worry about visible scars. With scalp micropigmentation, you’ll get natural coverage all over. Where the hair doesn’t grow, SMP tattoos will create the illusion of full hair.
• LONG HAIR
Long hair treatments can be time consuming, it is essential to work through the hair patiently in sections. At Dermo Hair, our hairdressing background gives us the necessary experience to achieve fantastic results with SMP. Suffering from thinning hair is very common with men and women and Scalp Micropigmentation for long hair is a great solution for this.
SMP for long hair with a receding hairline
If you’re proud of your long and flowing locks, but have a receding hairline, then SMP for long hair could be the solution you need. This technique can create the illusion of thicker hair above your forehead, though requires some long hair to strengthen the overall look.
Your scalp tattoos will bring your hairline forward, so that you can keep your long hair.
You may find that as your hairline further recedes, you may need to cut your hair to a shorter style. That said, SMP for long hair may allow you to keep your signature image for longer than you otherwise could.
SMP with long hair results
SMP for long hair isn’t always a long-term solution. Scalp micropigmentation can only create the illusion of short hair itself. If you have existing long hair that you can blend with your tattoos, the results can look very good. If your hairline has fully and completely receded, you may need to look at other options. Once you have your scalp tattoos, you will need to watch for signs of further hairline recession. As your hairline moves further back, you may lose more of the long hair that you originally had. At this stage, it might be time to shave your hair for further SMP treatment.

Long hair SMP for men
If you’re a man with long hair, scalp micropigmentation can maintain your look as your hairline starts to recede. You will need to have some long hair reasonably close to your forehead to create the desired look using small scalp tattoos. SMP can fill in the gaps that your receding hairline leaves behind, helping you to look younger for longer before your hair loss develops. You’ll need to keep a close eye on your hairline, to make sure that your tattoos look natural. Over time, men can expect their hairline to further recede. When this happens, it may be time for a short cut or a different type of treatment. SMP for long hair can also be used to fill in gaps in areas of hair loss – it is often most effective when it’s used to create an overall look of thicker hair.
Long hair SMP for women
Many women, understandably, are very proud of their hair. Long hair might be a part of your identity, and something you’re not ready to surrender. For age or medical reasons, many women go through the experience of hair loss. In women, this usually means that the hair becomes thinner and the scalp can be seen through the strands. Using scalp micropigmentation, it’s possible to hide your natural hair loss. Small scalp tattoos can make your hair look thicker and fuller than before. Often, long hair SMP is very effective for masking bald patches or hiding thinning hair.
• HAIRLINE
Your new hairline is one of the most crucial elements of having scalp micropigmentation.
There are an abundance of hairline styles that can be created with a skilled technician and we would work with you tirelessly to find the style you desire.
Factors to take into consideration are the shape & finish on the hairline, whether that be a natural soft finish or an edged up barber shop look. At Dermo Hair we are masters at creating a wide range of diverse hairlines to cater for every need.
FADED HAIRLINE
The Faded Hairline was created to give clients a softer look at the front edge of their SMP hairline. We achieved this look by simply using lighter shades of pigment and building up density and shade behind this area as we progressed through the multiple sessions of the SMP procedure. With this new look created, a more natural and subtle SMP procedure was born and has now become legendary.
Out of a desire from Scalp Artist Marc Allen to create a look that produced a more subtle, natural finish and lighter edge than previous ‘Old Skool’ SMP could achieve. The Faded Hairline is now one of the most sought after SMP hairlines in the business.
FAUX SCAR HAIRLINE
The Faux Scar is a great way to add authenticity to your SMP procedure. These ‘scars’ can be added through the front edge or set back behind, the possibilities are endless. When we create a faux scar you will notice that we create a cracked version with different shading and density around it to again give it that extra realistic look and style. Quite often we will add these to a faded hairline and the results are incredible. If you already have a small scar we can keep it and it’s always possible for you to fill this area in at a later date.
RECEDED HAIRLINE
The Receded Hairline is another of our creations that has proved immensely popular.
This hairline is achieved by creating a slightly con-cave side profile mixed with elements of the Faded Hairline to give you that authentic shape and finish that suits certain head shapes and styles.
DUSTED HAIRLINE
The Dusted Hairline was created as a lighter version of SMP. For those clients who are light haired/skinned or very cautious and want to stay extremely subtle.
This style can always be added to in the future as a clients confidence in their new look gains momentum over time.
PEAKED HAIRLINE
The Widows Peak is commonly known and we have created an SMP version that is soft and broken to give it that incredible realism.
DEFINED HAIRLINE
The Defined Hairline was created to replace what was traditionally known as an ‘Edge-Up’ We created a look that achieves the Edge-Up style but looks and ages better because of the techniques we use with shading and needle sizes to avoid over saturation on the front edge.
SMP FADE
The SMP Fade is again achieved by using shading similar to our faded hairline but this time on the side profile to give the seem-less illusion of a modern day skin fade. Marc’s barbering background was essential to creating this look and again took the SMP world by storm.

SMP for hair male pattern baldness

By the time you’re 50, there’s an 85% chance that your hair will be noticeably thinner. For cosmetic reasons, many men aren’t comfortable with natural hair loss. Though you’re not alone, you may prefer how you looked with fuller, thicker hair.
